LO1 Business Report - Sumo Digital

Company Structure

Sumo Digital is an independent game development company based in Sheffield, United Kingdom. They were founded in 2003 after the closure of Infogrames Studio Sheffield/Gremlin Interactive. Sumo currently employs around 270 staff in a wide range of roles such as animators, programmers and artists. 

Platform Technology

Sumo have developed for a wide range of platforms during the companies lifetime. The consoles include, Xbox and Xbox 360, Playstation 2, 3 and Portable, PC, Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii. Sumo currently develop for the following platforms, Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo 3DS, IOS, and Android. To make games enjoyable and playable on all platforms the develop for that are not as powerful as the Xbox One and PS4, adjustments will have to be made and features taken out. For example, the Xbox One and PS4 games will have better graphics and smoother framerate than the version on 3DS as they have higher specs.

We have had Sumo Digital come to our college and talk to us about the game industry. We have asked them questions and found out this.
